My blog is about 6 months away from being 10 years old. I began blogging back in March, 2004. That’s just hard to believe. In some ways that seems like a lifetime ago while in others it seems like just yesterday.
At present, my blog contains 3,156 posts, an average of 332 posts a year, or nearly 1 post per… Continue reading
I always want to know what the most popular posts are here at my blog. Tell me the audience doesn’t influence what gets written!
Unfortunately, I can only track back to February, 2011, when I switched my blog over to WordPress (from Moveable Type).
So, these are the most popular posts to date…
Feel free to use my search… Continue reading
Today, in the wee hours (Pacific Time), one of my database tables somehow became corrupted. All efforts to repair it failed. My blog was dead. Totally dead!
Thank goodness I have a backup strategy that is automated and followed religiously.
I was able to import my blog from the backup from the night before, a backup that was not corrupted.… Continue reading
Mother will hate this post.
Last year, for the first time, I created a Season’s Greetings banner that popped up (using MediaboxAdv) when you first hit my blog. This year, when I went to operationalize that same code, things were not very straight forward. This post is to remind me next year how to do this€”sort of a note to… Continue reading

Well, WordPress 3.0 has been available for download as a beta product until today. It went alpha. So I downloaded it having heard good things about its stability and usability. I’m especially interested in exploring the merging of MU into the base installation.
My upgrade was not without issues though: immediately after the upgrade the WordPress version… Continue reading
Those who know me well know that I’m never just sitting around doing nothing. So, I’ve received several comments from friends and relatives about having very little activity on my blog for the past week or two. What’s up?!

Yes, I’ve gotten lazy with blogging and decided to “hire” a team of assistants. We’ll see how it goes.
So, let me introduce you to the team: Zemanta, a plugin I just discovered. The plugin can interface with your blogging system (which is what I’ve chosen) or your browser.
In my MovableType posting window, I have a new column from… Continue reading
I have been using a little program called ecto for almost as long as I have been blogging–around May, 2004. ecto (yes, properly not capitalized) is a little desktop application that links to a large number of the most popular blogging platforms and allows users to quickly and easily post content. For example: the Mac version links directly to your… Continue reading
Yeah! Yesterday I posted my 100th Blog entry! I’ve actually written 115 entries but only posted 100 of them. Now aren’t you just curious!
By the way, I just can’t take it! I’m off to forage for chocolate! [Well, no wonder I’m craving chocolate…I’m starving. I got out of the office and therefore the gym also, late…very late! I was… Continue reading
I have wanted to add polls to my blog to gather information from readers, not that I have millions of them–yet! But I didn’t want to have to go to the trouble of writing the perl cgi scripts to do it. I’m lazy and not very good at programming; so, it would just take too much time.
I recently read… Continue reading
