Any time I have used stain in the past, the stain itself is almost watery. It has never had the consistency of paint. When I used stain, I had to be very careful not to spill it or have it run down the paintbrush or surface being stained. Application was significantly problematic!
When we moved to the Pacific Northwest, the former home owner left us all kinds of paints and such used in the house and around the property. Included in this trove was a small can of Minwax Gel Stain. I had never heard of gel stain before.
The stain is not watery at all! In fact, when you open the can and stir it up, the consistency of the product is very much like chocolate pudding. It doesn’t run at all! As the can says, it has a rich, uniform color, is easy to use, doesn’t drip or run at all, and worked perfectly for the vertical surfaces on which I used it.
Tim highly recommends this product for the next time you need to stain something.
