I meant to mention that last Thursday: I was driving home from the neighborhood grocery store, through a densely populated part of Sausalito during the afternoon. As I turned a steep curve a fox was trotting down the middle of the road.
Maybe he didn’t hear me or simply wasn’t frightened by the silent electric car? He kept trotting down the road in front of me for at least a tenth (probably two tenths) of a mile before jumping into a roadside hedge. He didn’t seem to have a care in the world. I would have been less surprised had this been a wooded area, but the houses in that area are tightly packed together.
I wasn’t sure at the time if this was a fox or a coyote. But, after a quick Google search of pictures of both beasts, I’m certain it was a fox. He had a small head and body and a bushy tail. Apparently a coyote’s body looks more like a German Shepherd.
