She made me laugh, even as a young child.
I recall my sister and I, when we were young children, watching something she was in. Phyllis played a character that appeared at some public event in a horridly garish outfit. The guests were all aghast, but not the character she was playing. She announced with grand flare something along these lines, “It may look horrible now, but rest. Assured, it will be the height of fashion by the end of this evening!” as she flung her head back and took to the party floor. Does anyone know which movie I’m dimly recalling?
And her hair. I loved her frizzy hair. She was just too fun.
I hope she had as happy a life as she appeared to have on stage.
