I just learned a new Mac OS 10.7 trick I didn’t know: you can customize what system control panel icons are shown in your system control panel.

Go to your System Control panel and either click the View menu at the top of the screen and then select Customize…

or

Click and hold the “Show All” button at the top of the System Control panel window itself and then select Customize… at the bottom of the screen.

The next steps are intuitive. And, you can later add back any items you hide by simply rechecking the box next to the item.
