I came across this on Twitter. It would be hysterical if it were not true, and I’m just as guilty of this as anyone else. Almost nothing that we see in photography and videography is actually true to life. For better or worse, just about everything is “enhanced.”

This commercial isn’t real, neither are society’s standards of beauty.
I thought I had blogged about this type of manipulation before but just realized that I had not. Dove did a campaign focused on the images we send to girls about what beauty is and that they are not, in and of themselves, beautiful. The name of the campaign was Evolution, and it was brilliantly executed. Below is my favorite video from the campaign.
