We so rarely have “weather” here. So, when I saw the forecast called for a storm front to move in, I thought it might be a good time to go to Malaga Cove, such a beautiful place, to shoot a time lapse as the sun came up. I jumped out of bed at 3:00am! The surfer dudes were riding the waves before the sun came up.
Everything looked so interesting! I would have kept shooting, but the rains came, and I couldn’t keep the rain drops off of the camera lens with all of the wind. (Malaga Cove is typically extremely windy!) I was initially pretty good at keeping the raindrops off of the camera lens in between the shots. But, at one point, you see the “hand of God” appear to remove a raindrop from the camera lens. Watch closely though—it happens in 1/24th of a second!
Two versions of the time lapse are offered, depending on you connection speed and monitor size: HD and a more standard size. If you view the HD version, be sure your browser window is open very wide before clicking on the play button. And don’t forget, you can watch either one of them in full screen mode by clicking the button in the extreme lower right corner once the movie begins to play.
