Last week I was reminiscing about the barber shops I went to as a child. My mother read the post and asked me if the old Lucky Tiger Cru-Butch Control Hair Wax I wore in my hair way back when was still sold. I had looked for it a while back and couldn’t find it. But I thought, at her prodding, I would explore it again.
Unbelievable!
Sitting on my desk is a plastic container of Lucky Tiger Cru-Butch Control Hair Wax (made since 1935!) from Amazon! Now, I doubt I will ever use the stuff, ever have a flat top again for that matter, but I still love the smell!
I do, however, still use 2 products from my childhood. I use them because I love the smell of them: Aqua Velva aftershave, which reminds me of my grandfather* every time I smell it, and Clubman’s Finest Talk by Pinaud.
- This then made me start thinking: what products from my youth are still around these 50+ years later?
- Do you have products you still love/use from your childhood? (Feel free to add a list of them and why you like them in the comments.)
*Aqua Velva has an official Facebook page?! What a hoot! If my grandfather could visit today, he wouldn’t comprehend a computer on the internet, let alone Facebook. What a different world!
The oldest U.S. copyright still in use is Underwood Deviled Ham and the little imp with the pitchfork. It goes back to the late 19th century…
