No. No More. I’m Fed Up!

I loathe corporate America trying to own American culture. But I double loathe it when they try to own my contributions to culture and do not allow me to opt out! I will not have it. I’ve been a huge fan of Instagram, ever since it first arrived on the tech scene. I love that app. You have seen me… Continue reading

Bay Area iPhoneography

This afternoon we meandered around Sausalito and Point Bonita. I just watched the parade of lighted boats and the holiday fireworks (from the house). What a wonderful city! To get more familiar with kitCam, I shot a few pics along the way. You can see from the larger images just one of the reasons why I much prefer kitCam to… Continue reading

PhotoForge2, Hmmm…

Want to stylize your photos? Yesterday I frothed at the mouth over kitCam, which is both a photo and a video app with numerous sharing possibilities including FTP. kitCam introduced me to PhotoForge2, which allows further manipulation of the photos. This image, from Thursday’s “video shoot,” shows a very quick possibility from PhotoForge2. I’m actually on a search to replace… Continue reading

Hiking the Headlands

I’ve raved non-stop about how gorgeous the headlands are–65,000 acres of unspoiled, ocean-side wilderness. I can’t overstate how much I love romping around there. The smells of the plant life are like nothing I ever experienced on the east coast. Love it! At any rate, yesterday, we hiked .4 miles up Slacker Hill, a rather serious incline, to check out… Continue reading

Persistent Ambient Sensing & Analysis

Sounds boring and geeky? But frankly, it’s absolutely fascinating and should scare the living hell out of you! Your smart phone contains many sensors that can (and do) capture data at any time. But what if these sensors captured data all of the time: temperature, compass, GPS, gyroscope, WiFi antenna, Bluetooth antenna, cell antenna, accelerometer, etc. What if an app… Continue reading

Near Death Experience

After having a consistently horrible week last week dealing with the ongoing frustrations of non-functional technology and the lack of closure on several essential, never-ending, home projects that have become non-productive time pits, I decided that at least half of today would be dedicated to being nice to Tim. My stress level last week was just outrageously through the roof.… Continue reading

A Really Interesting Day

Last weekend, while roaming around the headlands, we stopped by the visitors’ center (which is the Instagram that looks like a church) to get a map of the enormous Golden Gate National Recreation Area park. Sarah was working at the help desk. She happens to be a park ranger who has as one of her many responsibilities recruiting volunteers. She… Continue reading

Romping Around the Headlands

Today we walked almost 5 miles around the Marin Headlands, 65,000 acres of undisturbed coastal headlands along the Pacific Ocean. In the 1960s, a developer purchased a significant plot of this land to develop it into subdivisions. Fortunately, his efforts were stopped, and the area is today part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It’s simply stunning! While we… Continue reading

My Weekend Instagrams

What an awesome weekend with nothing to do related to moving!!! Tim Likes! So, off we went exploring the headlands area within just a mile or two of the house. It’s sooo awesome! Hiking trails are everywhere. Miles and miles of gorgeous, never-to-be-developed wilderness!! Unfortunately, my Instagram app somehow lost its connection with Facebook, and I didn’t realize this until… Continue reading

Damn, She Almost Got Me…

I rarely ever answer the phone here at the house. Over 98% of the calls are advertisements, election-related nonsense, or solicitations for “charitable” organizations. This morning I glanced over at the phone and saw a local area code was calling.  Since I didn’t have my glasses on, I couldn’t read the caller ID. Oddly, I picked it up. When the… Continue reading
