Northern Lights: Day 3 – London, Top Hat

Today we walked all over London proper, camera in hand. Proper photos will follow, but for now, here are some pictures I shot with my iPhone at the end of the day just before the show, Top Hat.

An amusing aside: at least 50 ladies showed up all dressed in their red hats. They were all members of the Red Hat Society in the US and had apparently won this trip to London. And what red hats they did wear! One lady even had a huge red, velvet cape and referred to herself as little red riding hood! They were having the time of their lives.

Excellent tap dancing with fantastic costumes, this musical theater was an adaptation of the original 1935 movie starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and featured some of Irving Berlin’s greatest hits, such as ‘Let’s Face the Music and Dance,’ ‘Cheek to Cheek,’ ‘Top Hat, White Tie, and Tails.’

The Aldwych Theatre, in London’s West End, was built in 1905 and is gorgeous!

Great fun!
