Sunday, upon hearing the weather was great at Point Reyes, we set off for the hour drive up Highway 1. Below are some pictures of both the lighthouse and the point.
Regrettably, I was unable to get a picture of the whales as they migrated north. And while I only saw 1 whale and heard another, 61 total sightings were recorded Sunday before we left. I was very surprised at how close the whales come to the coast line. The water must be amazingly deep along the jagged, craggy coast.
As you can see from the photos, the area is gorgeous and virtually completely undeveloped. In fact, the point is basically comprised of several cattle ranches. I a few photos, you can see the cows in the distance.
