The first set of pictures, of the Opera House, below, were shot yesterday at the end of the day. The remaining pictures of the Opera House were shot today from the ferry as I rode across the harbor to the zoo, and then some photos of the Opera House from the other side of the harbor.
Sydney hosts an artistic extravaganza each year which ends on the Queen’s birthday (yesterday), remember this was part of the British Empire many years ago. The name of the event is Vivid. One of the art installations is a laser show projected on the Opera House. It was stunning, but I didn’t have my tripod with me to shoot it properly. But I simply couldn’t just miss the chance; so, I got what I got.
Some of the projections were astounding: kelp moving in ocean currents with tropical fish swimming around–all projected onto the sails of the Opera House. As the moon first peeked over the Opera House, you will see a laser marker being projected onto one of the sails as they were calibrating for the laser show.
We’ve all seen many photos of the Opera House, but none of them do the structure justice. It’s magnificent.
